Summer in Breck

Breckenridge is such an awesome place to be all year round, but summer is my personal favorite. Why? The awesome summer activities for every age group and every physical ability level. The hiking, biking, mountain climbing, four wheeling, zip lining, world class fly-fishing, boating....did I mention an average summer high temp of only 74! Heck yes!

Ptarmigan Trail. moderate hike

Above is a picture from our hike last week at Ptarmigan Trail, It is a pretty good huff and puff up the first part of the trail (especially if you are middle age).
Directions:Take I-70 to Silverthorne Exit 205. Head north on Route 9 and turn right at the first stoplight (Wendy's is on your right). Turn right at the next stop sign and proceed .2 miles past the hotels on your right. Bear right onto road 2021 and parking for the trail-head is about .9 miles ahead on your right. The trail begins across the road from the parking area.
This lovely hike is approx  4.2 miles round trip. Once you get up the first part of the trail, and haven't keeled over since you are middle aged and 20 pounds overweight, the hike is gorgeous! You hike through groves and groves of Aspen trees. This is a must hike when the trees are changing in the fall.
